Ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) is a subset of polyethylene that has extremely long chains, with molecular weight usually between 2 and 6 million. It is used in applications requiring chemical resistance to highly corrosive chemicals or applications requiring outstanding abrasion resistance. UHMPE requires special processing techniques because of its exceptionally high molecular weight.
